Perfectionism VS Progress!

Perfectionism can motivate you to achieve crazy things but it can also destroy you in crazy ways, it's fine to use perfectionism as a part of your motivation as long as you know when it starts to turn into a destroyer because if you use it as a motivator for long enough it will... what you're done won't be enough, what you're doing won't be enough, you won't be enough...EVER. When you recognise it's becoming a destroyer you need to learn to switch your thinking into "progress" because I promise you if you've been working hard and you look back from where you started you will see all the beyond amazing and bad ass things you've accomplished big and small, the two ways can help you to achieve crazy things while still staying sane!

  1. I used to be really bad with this! I wanted everything to be perfect and if it wasn't perfect I'd beat myself up for it. It's so easy to get caught up in this "perfectionistic world" that you kind of loose sight of reality. Like you said in the end it's better looking back and seeing how far you've come; forget how not 'perfect' something is and admire it for the progress you've made!

    1. Most definitely, I think it is something that most of us have and like you said it is a very "perfectionistic world" that we can all get caught up in! :)

  2. That would work but I have OCD . . . I see what you mean and I can take your advice for most of this post, thanks!

  3. Totally agree that perfectionism can be both good and bad so a balance is required! Love your cute cat ears headband too!

  4. this is such an important thing for people to know! i'm a recovering perfectionist, and i'm doing much better than before, but i still experience the extreme perfectionist stress from time to time. luckily, i think i'm arriving at the point where i can use my perfectionism as a motivation without letting it drive me crazy

  5. Being perfect is a good motivation, however being perfectionist can drive one's mind crazy, so I guess we just have to do our best, Interesting post <3

  10. Positive vibes! It's so fine to aim for that perfection but also it has limitations. It can really destroy an individual, so let us all take a deep breath and just enjoy a normal happy routine.

    1. Naww thank you so much Elyse, I love yours! :D I think it can come to that point time and time again you just never feel like you're never enough which can serve as great motivation to keep going but it can also destroy all of you and at that point you start to realise you need to also look at it from a different perspective before it swallows you whole.

  15. Love this post and I completely agree with you - it's good to be motivator by 'perfectionism' as long as you know that what you're doing mah never be perfect but you can still achieve amazing things!

  17. I've never been a perfectionist & I'm thankful for that since it doesn't match my personality whatsoever. However, I'm all for practices makes progress. I'm not perfect but I can always strive to be a better me. :]

  18. I definitely agree! I am a huge perfectionist, but I really need to learn how to just calm down sometimes and take things as they are. And that's such a good point to look back at your progress because it really puts everything into perspective! Great post! :)

  31. well said!! I definitely agree with you! I'm such a perfectionist and it can completely stop me from accomplishing my goals a lot of times. It's hard to accept failure and it's even harder to keep trying to after you've failed.
